אוסף מס. 8 (!) של R.E.M אחרי 30 שנה. מה הם היו? פוסט פאנק, פופ, פולק רוק. אינדי. אלטרנטיב? יש שהגדירו southern gothic (מעין סגנון שירי קאובויים) אבל מה חשובה ההגדרה. בטקסטים של מייקל סטיפ אי אפשר לטעות. גם בקולו שתמיד העניק עוצמות ייחודיות לשירים. בהרמוניות. מבחינת חשיבות: האם R.E.M לשנות השמונים-תשעים היא מה הביטלס היו לשישים, פינק פלויד, לד זפלין ודיוויד בואי לשבעים? אני מתקשה להשיב, אולי משום שלהקות השבעים הנ"ל דיברו אלי יותר, ועדיין Losing My Religion הוא אחד השירים המצמררים במוסיקת הרוק לדורותיה. ואיך אפשר לפסוח על בלדות מרטיטות כמו Everybody Hurts ו – Nightswimming. תם עידן. איך אומרת הבלדה האחרונה שלהם? We All Go Back to Where We Belong.
