שמו המקורי ג'ון אינגליס יאנג, (נולד ב-21 ביוני 1950) סקוטי במוצאו, הקריירה שלו זכתה לחיזוק על ידי הופעות קבועות כמבצע ומנחה אורח בסדרת הטלוויזיה של רשת איי.בי.סי Countdown מלבד "Love Is in the Air", יאנג זכה להצלחה בעשירייה המובילה במצעד בגרמניה ובהולנד עם "Standing in the Rain" ועוד להיטי טופ טן בדרום אפריקה.
