גדל בקליפורניה ובג'ורג'טאון, טקסס, החל להעלות וולוגים, קאברים ושירים מקוריים ליוטיוב כנער. בהמשך חתם על חוזה תקליטים עם Republic Records ב-2018, שם הוציא את ה-EP הראשון שלו Sunset Season (2018). אלבום האולפן הראשון שלו Kid Krow (2020) הגיע למקום ה-5 ב-Billboard 200 בארה"ב, מה שהפך אותו לאלבום הבכורה המצליח ביותר של אמן החדש בארה"ב לשנת 2020. Kid Krow כלל את הסינגלים המצליחים "Maniac" ו-"Heather".
בשיר החדש גריי מבכה את שברון הלב שלו, מתחנן לעצמו להשאיר הכל בעבר: "בבקשה אל תהרסי לי את זה / בבקשה אל תעשי את זה יותר קשה ממה שזה כבר / אני מנסה להתגבר על זה."
"זכרונות" מתפתח לאט, גריי נמצא במקום פגיע, כשהזיכרונות מציפים את מוחו לגבי האקס. הוא אומר לאקס שלו, "הלוואי שהיית נשארת, בזיכרונות שלי / אבל את מופיעה היום, רק כדי להרוס דברים / אני רוצה לשים אותך בעבר כי אני בטראומה" הקרדיט הוא על הקול פחות על הטקסט, יותר עלו המוסיקה, אמנם לא מגלה משהו חדש שיש לספר עליו בראש חוצות, אבל בעלת מבנה ועיבוד שמעניקים לה תעודת ביטוח של להיט נצח. .
