לואיס קפלדי הוציא סינגל חדש "The Day That I Die", מתוך המיני אלבום החדש שלו, "Survive". השיר האמוציונאלי הוא הרביעי של קפלדי מאז הקאמבק שלו, אחרי 'Survive', 'Something In The Heavens' ו-'Almost'.
כל השירים הנ"ל רצועות תוארו בהצהרה כ"שיריו הגולמיים והאישיים ביותר עד כה". המיני-אלבום החדש שלו 'Survive', יצא בסוף השבוע (14 בנובמבר).
על פסנתר מלנכולי וצנוע, קפלדי שר: "ביום שאעזוב, אני מקווה שהזיכרונות ימצאו אותך מאושר/ ואבא שלי לא יכעס עליי יותר מדי, בלשון המעטה/ אתפלל שאחותי תרדם/ הלוואי ויכולתי לומר את זה טוב יותר, מה כל הזמנים האלה שהיו לנו יחד היו חשובים לי".
קפלדי ממשיך בשירה שנשמעת כאילו היא מתפרצת מבפנים, ו“The Day That I Die” ממשיך את אותו קו: הקול שלו שבור-יפה, רווי נשימה קשה, אבל כאן יש משהו חדש – איפוק. הוא אינו צועק כאב. הכאב פחות דרמטי ויותר מפוכח, וזה כוחו.
יש מי שירגיש שזה עוד שיר של קפלדי, ותה אווירה מלנכולית, אותו נוסח מלודי. הפזמון, למרות כוחו, לא מחדש מבחינת מבנה. מי שמחפש ממנו פריצה סגנונית, לא ימצא אותה כאן. מצד שני אפשר לטעון שדווקא העקביות הזאת היא מה שהופכת את השיר למאוד קפלדי.
